Irrespective of these breeds that are not just the members of similar breeding groups, they do come with a couple of similarities and not just the differences. So continue reading to know the best option you can bring home.
About Havapoo
Havapois are sweet designer dogs that are a mix of the Havanese and Poodle lineage. The Havanese dogs often remain considerably tinier even when they are fully grown, with most of them topping out between 8.5 and 11.5 inches and weighing around 7 to 13 pounds. Havanese dogs are native to Cuba and were the aristocratic lapdogs of choice during the Cuban Revolution.
The Poodle mix inherits strong features from both parents, although it is often tough to tell ahead of time accurately how every dog turns out to be. Havapoos are a bit bigger compared to the Maltipoos, usually weighing around 7 to 30 pounds and reaching about 15 inches at their withers. They bark less compared to the Maltipoos as they need less grooming.
Personality
Havapoos are extremely gentle and affectionate. They love spending time with their owners trailing them from one room to the other. Havapoos are often the happiest curled up in the lap of their favorite person, and most of them are patient and live well with other animals and well-behaved children. Due to their smaller stature, Havapoos often do not enjoy their rough plays as these little tiny sweethearts should get handled with care. Sadly, they often become anxious specifically whenever left alone. However, they are not inclined to an excessive amount of barking, making them the best apartment dogs.
Exercise & Training
Havapoos will not need too much exercise to stay fit. More of them are good with easy walks that get augmented with their daily playtime. They love to take walks and play the games of fetch as well as hide and seek. They have smaller legs and are at greater risk of developing conditions like hip dysplasia, so it would pay while enjoying with them outdoors. These intelligent dogs love performing tricks since they are people-oriented and smart as they are amazingly easy to train. Most of them perform the best with the rewards-based training as they are often discouraged by criticism or when they are spoken roughly.
Health & Care
Havapoos are considerably healthy and live to almost ten to fourteen years of age. However, they have greater scope to develop a few breed-specific conditions that are commonly noted in their parent's breeds. Poodles often suffer from Addison's disease, bloating, and diabetes, while Havanese dogs face the risk of developing hearing issues and heart murmurs. Havapoos should be monitored for such conditions, too. They do not require a lot of maintenance, as regular brushing and monthly baths are enough. Havapoos should get their ears cleaned once every month and their teeth brushed a couple of times weekly.
About Maltipoo
Teacup Maltipoos are almost considered the smaller cousins of Havapoos. These friendly, sweet dogs top out to around 14 inches and weigh less than 20 pounds. Like the Poodle or Maltese mixes they would feature the aspects of both the breeds. They are often bright like the Poodles and love cuddling like the Maltese dogs.
They also do not need extensive grooming and are ideal for pet owners who suffer from allergies. However, they are not technically hypoallergenic. They would not shed much and produce less irritating or allergy-causing proteins. They are considerably healthier mixes, living for around 10 to 15 years on average.
Personality
Maltipoos are often charming, active, and sweet; however, they do not love being alone. They often tend to bark whenever they are unhappy, but they usually get along with the pets and children seamlessly. Although they need activity and exercise, they are never inclined to run around the home. They often form deeper bonds with their owners, making them the best therapy dogs.
Exercise & Training
Although the Maltipoos love to hang out and nap in front of their favorite person they even love exercise. They have a good amount of energy and often look towards mental stimulations of their playtime. They would often need around 40 minutes of exercise each day and around 20 minutes of playtime. The Maltipoos are often bored easily. They are even prone to develop separation anxiety and barking and early training is a must for ensuring that your pet is not becoming a vocalizer. Training programs will reduce the overall anxiety in pets by removing boredom and offering mental stimulation.
Health & Care
You need to brush Maltipoos about once a day and monthly baths are important to prevent matting. The Maltipoos need regular ear cleanings and nail clippings around once every month. Also, do not forget to brush your pet's teeth about two to three times every week to reduce the buildup of plaque that leads to painful conditions such as periodontitis and gingivitis. If you are not comfortable doing these by yourself, the professionals will clip your pet's nails and clean its ears.
